Check It Out!

As my Hook Me Up! readers already know...the cover art for "Touched by an Alien" is up and live on the site! Check it out on my Bookstore page. Isn't it awesome? Doesn't it just pop?

My brilliant cover artist is Daniel Dos Santos -- check out his website for more examples of his awesome artwork: http://www.dandossantos.com/home.html

And watch the site -- over the next few weeks it's going to get a new look, in honor of the most awesome cover.

Now, I'm off to gaze lovingly at my cover art again. *sigh*

Ragin' Cagin'

I believe it's no mystery that the hubs likes MMA, or Mixed Martial Arts, aka cage fighting. He's been a big proponent of the UFC, the WEC, Strikeforce, and You Name It If They're Fighting Standing Up And On The Ground.

Being a good wife (I'll wait while the snickers die down), I do my best to share the hubs' interests. After all, if I learn to toss out the observant MMA comments ("Boy, that guy's gassed." "Wow, what a great arm bar." "Conditioning will be a factor." "Gee, that dude's really, totally buff and totally hot." Okay, the hubs isn't as thrilled with that one, though it's my personal favorite...) then he'll go to the occasional romantic comedy with me, right? And I get to see mostly naked, almost always buff, and very frequently really handsome guys try to beat the living crap out of each other. So everyone wins.

I have a confession to make, though.

Somehow -- and I blame all the buff handsome guys in this sport for this -- I've become a huge MMA fan. It's worked its way into my writing. It's worked its way into my conversations. I've whined and begged and forced the hubs to watch this season's 'The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights' show with me, and not just for Kimbo Slice, Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, or Rashad Evans -- though it doesn't hurt. (And though I do love my Rampage, I also love my Rashad, and my Rashad is THE coach, IMHO...bit I digress...) And last night we went -- on my choice -- to see Rage in the Cage live.

All I can say is, "WOW." First off, we had awesome seats -- were were less than 20 feet from the cage. I'm spoiled now, and that's bad, because UFC fights cost a lot more than Rage in the Cage. We saw 17 fights and they were all great. All were (sorry UFC) better than the fights being shown on The Ultimate Fighter this season. There was even a chick fight, which I will not review here because both of the girls fighting scared me more than any dude ever has. They scared a good portion of the audience, too, especially the young guys sitting near to us. I know, because we exchanged, "She's terrifying!" comments with each other during the brief and brutal chick fight.

But the chick fight, like all the others, was really good. I screamed myself hoarse. Hey, someone had to tell "my" fighters to posture up, use their knees, or choke their opponents into submission. I just happen to have good voice projection skills, that's all.

I can't wait to go again. After all, if I'm using this in my writing, it's research, right? Of course right!

Oh, and the hubs had fun, too.

Love,
Gini
