Comic-Con Re-Cap & Giveaway!

Long time no yap! But not to worry, I'm ba-ack! Well...sorta.

I know, I know, I was yapping up a storm on Twitter and at Comic-Con and all that jazz. But I've been missing at the blog, and while I'm still on vacay, there's lots to catch you all up on.

Fist off, in case you haven't hit it yet, or recently, the Parallel Universe is still going on over at The Galaxy Express. Also, if you haven't checked my Alien Diversity Panel, or did and left a message, well, check it again, 'cause Kitty & Company are still there, replying to your questions and comments.

Now, for what you all came for...so to speak: Comic-Con was awesome! My "With Great Powers Come Great Stories" Superhero Superfiction panel went well (at least according to the hubs and the nice gal from Penguin who was there who said I was terrific -- which was both of their jobs to so say, LOL), Mysterious Galaxy sold a lot of my books, and I got to hang with a whole bunch of awesome authors -- Seanan McGuire, Jackie Kessler, Caitlin Kittredge, J.F. Lewis, Diana Rowland, Tanya Huff, Anton Strout, and more!

The movie RED looks cool, and its screenwriters ARE cool, so I have high hopes -- Helen Mirren with a sniper rifle...'nuff said!

Randy Couture isn't all that tall but man is he buff. Other than Mr. The Natural of UFC fame, and actors on panels, my celeb sightings were slim. I saw Dirk Benedict, Morgan Fairchild, and the actor who played Boomer on the Old School Battlestar: Galactica (unless I look at the pic I took, I cannot remember his name). Um...past their prime but, hey, they're still kicking! Morgan and Dirk were touchy about photos being snapped that didn't garner them $20-$25 a pop. It was very "Galaxy Quest" -- them, not the fans, LOL. Val Kilmer was there but he was surrounded by people and I have a strict "no paying for autographs" policy, so I didn't lay eyeballs on him.

Yes there was a stabbing, no we weren't where it was, yes I'm considering suing for copyright infringement -- dude used a PEN to try to take down his seat nemesis? I smell a lawsuit! LOL

We saw the first episode of No Ordinary Family. Cute, sort of like The Incredibles but still different. Michael Chiklis and Julie Benz were really funny, and she's prettier in person than on screen. Both of them desperately want more Twitter followers, btw. (Seriously, they both shouted out their Twitter addies and begged for everyone to follow them.) Got a special t-shirt from that panel.

Didn't make it into the Cowboys & Aliens panel, but ran into their swag guy on the street and got t-shirts from him. Same with Scott Pilgrim. Was in the Green Lantern comics panel, which was remarkably free of Ryan Reynolds, dammit (hence, why we could get seats without waiting in line for 6 hours).

However, we did make it into the Ultimate Panel. No, I'm not talking about any of the movie premieres. We got into the Castle panel! Hubs waited in line 3 hours to ensure this feat (which is yet another reason why I love him). It was hilarious and fun and I got tons of pics (which will be going up on the website once I'm home and can transfer them easily to Team Gini). We also got water bottles as gifts, but neither the hubs nor I got the Golden Tickets which would have let us into a special autographing session. (Which is why I'm not up on charges of kidnapping, so it's probably for the best.) Nathan Fillion is even more adorable in person than you'd expect (and I expected a lot); the whole cast of Castle were fun and funny, excellent panel, lots of clips, quips, and some of the wackiest giveaways (courtesy of Fillion) ever.

Took lots of pics of folks in costume (and, let me tell you, the guys who were dressed as Morpheus and the Sexy Pirate win in the Hottie category, and the Harry Potter Grown Up Dude was, frankly, too cute for words), also to be posted once I'm home.(Oh, and yes, I took pics for the dudes, too, don't fret your bad selves.)

Got some awesome ARCs from the lovely folks at Penguin YA. Got lots of other swag, too.

And, speaking of swag...I know I'm missting tons of Comic-Con highlights, but I just HAVE to get to the next Hook Me Up! exclusive contest! Some of you know about it already, but for those of you who aren't on Twitter and so who, due to my traveling, aren't "in the know" like normal, let's get you up to speed fast.

Check the Win Stuff page to get the full info on my huge Comic-Con Swag Pack Giveaway. The contest starts on Aug. 2nd. Details, as always, will be given as we get a little closer (and when I get home, which is, coincidentally, Aug. 2nd). I was on a mission from the gods of swag and I'm coming home with 4 HUGE bags FILLED with goodies. So many goodies that there are different packs, all loaded.

If you wanted to go to Comic-Con and couldn't, or just want a feel for what it was like, be sure to enter the contest and you could get a whole lot of cool stuff without that messy packing and traveling blah, blah, blah that bogs so many of us down. Not me, of course -- I overpack for ALL occassions and due to that, I'm the best space-planner around. I can make it ALL fit, which is good for you, 'cause I got TONS.

Of course...if you're not on Hook Me Up!, all you'll get to do is watch other people win. Why not rectify that right now? Send an email to gini@ginikoch.com with "Hook Me Up!" in the subject line, and ensure your chance for the swag!

There's more, but this has gone on for a while, and you know I do know how to leave you all wanting more, so until next time, start the anticipation motors rolling, 'cause there's swag in them there packs and it could be heading for YOU!

Love,
Gini

Exciting News Bulletin!

This just in: As my Hook Me Up! subscribers already know, we've got some action going on in Gini Land!

Because those who run The Galaxy Express are members in proud standing of the Alien Collective, and so I'd be able to actually drop by and reply to at least a few comments before I'm swept away into the exciting madness that is Comic-Con (and, you know, in my dreams, swept off my feet by Nathan Fillion and/or Matt Bomer...but I digress), the release time of my Alien Diversity Panel has been changed.

I'm now kicking off the entire Parallel Universe virtual conference! So, hit The Galaxy Express (http://www.thegalaxyexpress.net/2010/07/parallel-universe-alien-diversity-panel.html) at 9am (U.S. Eastern, I believe) and check out the panel.

And here's your special surprise: I'm not moderating the panel...wait for it...wait for it...Kitty is! And just wait 'til you see who she's interviewing and what they have to say!

Yes, you can address questions to anyone on the panel as well as to the moderator (or even to me). So, go have some fun with it, and then stick around for all the rest of the great 11 awesome days of virtuality! (Hey, I'm a writer. I'm ALLOWED to make up words. That's my story, and I'm sticking with it!)

Don't miss it, 'cause it's gonna be huge!

Love,
Gini

One Last Thing Before I Go...

Well, as if y'all didn't know, I leave tomorrow for Comic-Con (wait for it...once more...with feeling...AS a PROFESSIONAL!). So, we're going to (mostly) radio silence while I'm gone.

As my Hook Me Up! subscribers already know, I'll check in as I can, but the easiest way to do that will be via Twitter, so if you're not yet following me there and you want the Comic-Con & vacation updates as they happen, now's the time. Plus, my 300 Twitter followers contest is still going on too, so you can get a double! Follow @GiniKoch.

Where it won't be silent but WILL be fun whilst I'm gone is at The Galaxy Express. Check out the Parallel Universe promo and remember -- July 20th is when it starts and when my Alien Diversity Panel will go live. Comic-Con won't have started yet, so I'm hoping to check in if I'm able to, so be sure to leave questions or comments!

We've already gotten more requests for more swag at The Alien Depot and Team Gini hopped right on it, so the Depot is already revamped! Check it out, browse the now-considerably-more merchandise, enjoy yourselves! And remember, there's still plenty of freebie swag on the Free Stuff page, too!

Much love and thanks to all who showed up at my author workshop and book signing Wed. night, and particular love and smootchies to those Hook Me Up! subscribers, aka the Most Dedicated of the Alien Collective, who were there, too (you know who you are, my beloveds!). It was a great turn out and I enjoyed running the yap (I know, when don't I?), and much chocolate and good times were had by all!

While I won't be there 'cause I'll be at Comic-Con (insert standard addendum here), our own Amber Scott will be doing her author workshop and signing (for "Play Fling") at the same bat time and same bat channel next week. Amber's a fun speaker, so if you enjoyed mine, or missed mine, make it to hers!

Writers Workshop Wednesdays
Borders Scottsdale Waterfront
7:00 p.m., July 21
7135 East Camelback Road
Scottsdale, AZ 85251
(Note for AZ folks -- this is at the Waterfront Borders in Scottsdale, NOT the Biltmore Borders in Phoenix)

Speaking of conferences and signings and all that jazz, my next conference is CopperCon 30. I'm doing a lot of panels, a book signing, and a reading...from "Alien Tango". (Yes, so that would be a preview BEFORE any ARCs are available...) We already have some awesome Hook Me Up! and Alien Collective members coming (waves with excitement) and to sweeten the pot for those of you on the fence, I'm going to be throwing a small party for Alien Collective members only. In addition to the fun just hanging out together will entail, there will also be special swag there. Oh sure, there will be Free Stuff swag...but there will also be...Depot Swag. So, if you can make it, you don't want to miss it!

I will, however, miss all of you while I'm gone. Leave comments on the Blah, Blah, Blah Blog, send Tweets, send emails, etc. I should get 'em all and will try to reply in a semi-prompt manner. Everyone have a great rest of July, and until August, peace out, li'l gangstahs!

Love,
Gini

Sliding Slowly Towards the Weekend

It's Hump Day! Or it was when I started writing this. At the rate I'm going, we're gonna be well on the downward slide before you get to read it. So, since my theme this week appears to be getting info out really late, let's get right to all the news that's fit to print!

First up, as my Hook Me Up! subscribers already know, we have a new lovely review of "Touched by an Alien" from A Buckeye Girl Reads. Check it out, share some Alien Collective love.

Next up, the Accolades page has been updated. If you've done a review, and you don't see it listed here, please let me know and we'll get that rectified immediately, if not sooner!

Last reminder for this -- my author workshop & book signing is tonight:

Writers Workshop Wednesdays
Borders Scottsdale Waterfront
7:00 p.m., July 14
7135 East Camelback Road
Scottsdale, AZ 85251
(Note for AZ folks -- this is at the Waterfront Borders in Scottsdale, NOT the Biltmore Borders in Phoenix)

I'd send you to BookTour.com for all the deets, but the site's been going through a facelift and it's a little wonky right now. If you do use it to keep track of me, never fear, it'll be smoothed out by next week. (I have it on good authority from the nice man over there in tech support who kept me from jumping off the roof when it looked like all, and I do mean ALL, my data had been wiped out.) This is also, therefore, making my Datebook page a little wonky, but again, it'll smooth out soon.

Last, but not least, we've already had requests for additional swag at the Alien Collective Depot. So, we're getting to those and will have something up by the time I'm back from Comic-Con, if not sooner! (Oh, btw...did I mention that I'm going to Comic-Con as a professional?)

BTW, if you're not on Hook Me Up!, get on before I get back from Comic-Con. I'll be doing another Hook Me Up! exclusive contest, and it'll have some great stuff in it, including whatever coolness I come home with from Comic-Con...and there's a lot of cool gonna be there! So, send an email to gini@ginikoch.com with "Hook Me Up!" in the subject line, so you're all set for the winning to come!

Love,
Gini

Ta Da -- Stuff is Here!

As my Hook Me Up! subscribers already know, finally, "it's" here! The "stuff" I've been hinting about. I know, the anticipation has been great! But don't worry. I don't have ONE new thing to tell you about...I have TWO. That's DOUBLE. (Yeah, I'm getting a little punchy this close to leaving for Comic-Con, why do you ask?)

First up, several of you have been asking, nay suggesting (okay, demanding) something, insinuating that you would like to have something to show your love of certain things from "Touched by an Alien". We at Team Gini thought long and hard and decided giving in to your demands was probably the way to go. (Because our motto is: The Alien Collective is Always Right.)

So...check it out! The Alien Collective Depot is here! Browse the merchandise, find your favorites, and yes, trust me, we'll be adding new things as we go along. 'Cause we at Team Gini are really distracted by all the shiny options out there and are always going, "Oooooh, GOTTA have THAT."

What could possibly top the Depot? Well, The Galaxy Express is aware that there's going to be a lot of radio silence in the next couple of weeks, and not just from me. So, running concurrently with Comic-Con and RWA Nationals will be the Parallel Universe! Authors of SFR, yours truly included, will be posting articles, doing "panels" (and, spoken modestly, I think you'll love mine), and answering questions. It's going to be an 11-day extravaganza you won't want to miss!

The Parallel Universe starts on Tuesday, July 20th. Lisa Paitz Spindler will kick it off in the morning and then...I'll be up that evening! You'll definitely want to catch my "Alien Diversity Panel", which will include and be run by...but there...don't want to tell you too much. It'll spoil the surprise. Suffice to say, members of the Alien Collective will enjoy it tremendously. And I'm hoping to drop in, certainly on the 20th, and as I can thereafter, to answer questions, etc. So a fun time should be had by all!

The full Parallel Universe schedule should be posted at The Galaxy Express this Thursday, so be sure to check it out and mark your calendars!

There's more to come, but it'll wait until tomorrow. Until then, I'm back to editing "Alien in the Family", reminding peeps to pre-order "Alien Tango", and trying desperately to decide what to pack (or, in my case, what to leave behind) for Comic-Con (where I'm going as a professional! Yeah...really...admit it...you KNEW it was coming). And y'all go on with being your own wonderful bad selves and I'll catch you on the flip side!

Love,
Gini

Maniacal Monday

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! I did a lot of editing on "Alien in the Family" and a whole lot of needless stressing about getting ready to head to SoCal and Comic-Con.

But that's all in the past! Yes! It IS! I SWEAR! Ahahahahahahaha! *cough*

So, what do we have for you today? Well, as my Hook Me Up! subscribers already know, we have a lot! First up, there's a question I've been getting somewhat frequently and one of our newest Hook Me Up! subscribers just asked it again. So, hit the Extra Me! page and check out Ask Gini for an answer about Kitty and how she does what she does so well.

Next up, in case you've somehow missed it, I have another Twitter contest going, my 300 Followers contest. For full details, hit Dark Wyrm Reads where the contest is more clearly stated than I've managed to do yet. Check out the reviews of other books while you're there, too! (BTW, while I'm gone, Twitter may be the best place to hear from me, keep in touch with me, etc. Because that Blackberry of mine will be with me at all times, and my netbook will not.)

In other news, ALPHA Reader has a nice shout out to "Touched by an Alien" as well as a lot of other books you might want to check out and put on your summer reading list. And my 3-part guest blog about the 3 P's to Writing Success is up at That's QUEEN Bitch to You so check it, and the reviews (and the Robot Chicken!), out there.

As I think I've mentioned (oh, once or twice), I'll be gone the latter half of this month at Comic-Con (where I'm going as a professional! Yeah, I know, you thought I was over that, based on the opening paragraph, but you were wrong, it's still a required addendum). If you've also somehow missed what my session there will be about and who I'll be on the panel with, check out Super Freaks are Super Freaky for a quick overview. And if you'll be at Comic-Con, let me know!

Last but not least, a reminder for those in the general vicinity of Phoenix/Scottsdale -- I'll be doing an author workshop and book signing this Wednesday, July 14th (you know, instead of packing...'cause I like to make the stress really WORK for me). Would love to see you there!

Writers Workshop Wednesdays
Borders Scottsdale Waterfront
7:00 p.m., July 14
7135 East Camelback Road
Scottsdale, AZ 85251

Stay tuned. Tomorrow the stuff I've been telling you about that we've all be waiting for will be announced...well, that you've all been waiting for me to actually coherently tell you about and I've been waiting to get all ready before I coherently tell you about it. That stuff. It'll be here. Tomorrow. Promise.

Love,
Gini

Ready for the Weekend?

Well, as you can see, I'm late again, but hey, this way, you get your Friday Roundup AND Weekend Update all in one! Such a deal, cheap at twice the price!

As promised, and as my Hook Me Up! subscribers already know, Part 3 of my 3-part series is up on That's QUEEN Bitch to You. Head over, have a read, leave a question or a comment!

Next up, we have a couple of nice shout-outs to "Touched by an Alien". At Stacy's Place on Earth guest SpazP (aka Pamela) shares how she's enjoying the book, and over at Books, According to Nicole "Touched by an Alien" has made her list for the 2010 Science Fiction Romance Challenge!

Haven't heard of this challenge, you say? Well, hit The Galaxy Express for more details. Or go straight to the source at A Writer's Dream where the challenge originated! (Oh, and remember to add "Touched by an Alien" and "Alien Tango" to your challenge list -- hey, "Alien Tango" comes out in early December, it's doable!)

My 300 Twitter Followers contest continues on. Tell your friends, tell your family, tell complete strangers -- when I hit 300, 2 more signed copies of "Touched by an Alien" go out to two lucky followers chosen at random.

But, as always, my heart belongs most to all of my Hook Me Up! subscribers. So don't worry...when it's time to do a contest for an ARC for "Alien Tango", never fear, only those on Hook Me Up! will be eligible.

Wait...you're not on Hook Me Up! you say? Well, now's the time, innit? I mean, with more and more contests on the way, isn't it time you bit the bullet and joined? It's free and easy: just send an email to gini@ginikoch.com with "Hook Me Up!" in the subject line and there you go, you're in and all set for the winning to come!

Meaning you'll also be eligible for my After Comic-Con Contest coming up...wait for it...after Comic-Con! (Where, in case you didn't know, I'll be going as a professional!)

Should you or anyone you know be at Comic-Con San Diego later this month, my panel is on Friday, July 23rd: 10:00-11:00 With Great Power Come Great Stories — Authors discuss creating superhero superfiction, including novels and stories in anthologies like Masked and Wild Cards. Authors include Lou Anders (Masked), Jackie Kessler (the Icarus Project novels), Caitlin Kittredge (the Icarus Project novels), Gini Koch (Touched by an Alien, the Katherine "Kitty" Katt series), Kevin Andrew Murphy (the Wild Cards series), Chris Roberson (Book of Secrets), Caroline Spector (Wild Cards contributor), and Matt Sturges (Justice Society of America). Moderated by Maryelizabeth Hart of Mysterious Galaxy. Room 32AB.

If you'd like to see the full Comic-Con line-up, and be awed at the amount of things to do over four and a half days, hit the main site: http://www.comic-con.org/cci/index.php. Remember, returned memberships are still available. So, if you're going, be sure to let me know so we can meet up! (And yes, I'll take autograph requests for any of the other authors or moderator on my panel...just get 'em to me by Friday, July 16th. Those wanting "Castle" autographs can merely get in their long line and keep the digits crossed that I'll be able to get close enough to score a visual, let alone a signature.)

Last but not least, stay alert, the new "stuff" should be announcement-ready by sometime next week. But until then, have yourselves a wonderful weekend and I'll catch you on the flip side!

Love,
Gini

Jumpin' July!

Well, as my Hook Me Up! subscribers already know, it's a busy week. Which, of course, you know, too, 'cause I've blogged every day. (Making you nostalgic for last week? LOL)

Getting right down to business, there's a great new review of "Touched by an Alien" up at Lala's Book Corner. Head over, have a read, leave some Alien Collective love.

Parts 1 & 2 of my 3-part guest blog are still large and in charge over at That's QUEEN Bitch to You. If you haven't checked them out, why not rectify that right now? Part 3 is coming on Friday, so stay tuned!

Reminder for those who are in or around the Greater Phoenix Metro Area (aka Welcome to Hell's Orientation Party!), I'll be doing a workshop and book signing at the Border's Scottsdale Waterfront on Wed., July 14th. Details here, The Arizona SF/F Blog and here, BookTour.com. Please come by if you can, would love to see you there!

In other news, "Touched by an Alien" is a Locus runner up bestseller! And my Twitter contest is still going strong -- if you're not following me yet, head over and start (http://twitter.com/GiniKoch), 'cause when I hit 300 followers, I'm giving away 2 signed copies of "Touched by an Alien". There's more "stuff" coming, and I think you're going to like it, but it's not quite ready for prime time...hopefully before I go to Comic-Con...so keep your eyes on the website!

And finally, it's time to start the drumbeat -- please pre-order "Alien Tango" (releasing Dec. 7th, as if you didn't know) and encourage all you run across to pre-order, too! (Yes, for those of you who were with me before "Touched by an Alien" released, you ARE going to hear this a lot...but what can a girl do? Pre-orders matter. So, you know, pre-order today so you can be all proud of your bad selves and lord it over the slower folks.)

Not on Hook Me Up! yet? Believe me, you want to change that status, and soon. When I'm back from Comic-Con, there will be another Hook Me Up! exclusive contest coming...and when I get ARCs for "Alien Tango", guess who's going to have a shot at them? Right you are, my Hook Me Up! subscribers ONLY. So, send an email to gini@ginikoch.com with "Hook Me Up!" in the subject line TODAY, so you're all set and don't miss out on anything!

Love,
Gini

Drive By Update

Happy Hump Day to all!

As my Hook Me Up! subscribers already know, it's short and sweet today. Part 2 of my 3 part guest blog over at That's QUEEN Bitch to You is up. Head on over, have a read, leave a comment or question, you know the drill.

Now I'm racing back to editing "Alien in the Family". You enjoy the downward slide towards the weekend!

The Yap Runs Again!

Well, as my Hook Me Up! subscribers already know, there's no radio silence for THIS week. We're revved up and getting things done before I take off for the less sunny and cooler climes of lovely San Diego. (Trust me. It's summer. There is NO place sunnier and hotter than my portion of Arizona. Feel free to compare temperatures with us...we Phoenicians merely say, "Bring it. The only ones who can beat us are in Yuma.")

So, weather domination aside, let's get on to the good stuff! Our own Queen Bitch asked me to do a guest blog for aspiring authors, which, being that it was MY yap that was running, is going out in three parts. (I know, what were the odds?) Part One is live on That's QUEEN Bitch To You right now. Head over, have a read, potentially be inspired. Feel free to ask a question or leave a comment, I'll be happy to answer!

We have a winner of my 200 Twitter Followers contest -- Neil O'Donnell! I enjoyed this little contest so much that I'm going to keep it going AND up the ante. When I hit 300 Twitter followers, I'm going to give away two signed copies of "Touched by an Alien" via random drawing. So, if you're not yet following me on Twitter, hurry up, more winning's afoot! (Team Gini's Twitter Expert says that the direct line to me on Twitter is http://twitter.com/GiniKoch - yes, everyone's back from their long weekend...you can tell, things are working right.)

In other news, The Perils of Pauline had some nice things to say about "Touched by an Alien". And we've revamped the Deathless Prose page. Why, you ask? Well, so when I put up excerpts from "Alien Tango", they'll be easy to find...

Love,
Gini

Busy, Busy, Busy...

Happy Monday! Hope those who were celebrating had a fun and frolicsome Independence Day celebration. Team Gini's still technically on 4th of July holiday (we work hard and play hard here), but there's a lot going on, and I didn't want to wait another moment to share it all with you.

With that build up, I know you're expecting the Earth to move, but, um, well, as my Hook Me Up! subscribers already know, really, it's just a lot of good stuff today and there's more coming and...

First up, there are more nice reviews of "Touched by an Alien" to check out. Head over to the Onward blog, then hit Dirty Sexy Books blog. After that, jump to The Book Addict to see where "Touched by an Alien" is on her June reading list. Also, for those of you who entered her many cool contests, winners will be announced soon!

In somewhat related news, as you all know, our own Amber Scott started Project Pay It Forward with "Touched by an Alien". That's going on and going well, but Amber wants to get a new book going, and she's asking for suggestions. Head over to The Amber Scott Project and give her some ideas of which debut author's book you think she should start a PPIF for. I've logged my suggestion, go log yours!

By now you all know I'm going to Comic-Con...wait for it...as a professional! (You knew it was coming.) Anyway, I'm going, and it's been sold out since November. BUT, there are returned memberships available, so if any of you are still hoping to go, check out the Comic-Con website and see if you can score tix. (BTW, don't buy from scalpers -- buy only through Comic-Con or you'll be likely to waste your hard-earned money.) My panel is on Friday -- check the Datebook page for details -- if you can only go one day.

My Twitter Followers contest is still going; just need a few more followers in order to reach 200 and then send out a signed copy of "Touched by an Alien". Our own Dark Wyrm Reads gently reminded me last week that I hadn't shared how to find me on Twitter with those who might not be following me already, so, I'm @GiniKoch and I believe you can just go to Twitter, sign up if you're not on it, and search for me. Or, click on the link right here on the Blog Roll (to the left of the blog, under the nav bar).

I'd ramble on some more, but edits never sleep. So, I'm back to editing "Alien in the Family" and you all go back to hitting websites and being your own bad selves, and we'll do it all again later this week!

Love,
Gini

Playing Catch Up

Happy Friday!

I know, I know...one blog on Monday and then radio silence. Or blog silence. Or something like that. What was I doing? (Note to my editor: I mean, other than editing like a madwoman! Night and day! Day and night! Nose to grindstone! Write, write, edit, edit...no sleep, no food, just editing!)

(Yeah, I don't think she'll buy that, either, but hey, it's worth a shot...)

Well, as my Hook Me Up! subscribers already know, among other things, I had a super book signing at my chiropractor's office. Yeah, no, I really wasn't kidding about that location. And the Programming Director for CopperCon 30 came! Yeah, I'm kind of geeking out about that. She's very cool, and I'm going to be very busy over Labor Day weekend. And I'm totally stoked about it! I'll share my schedule closer to the event, but trust me when I say I'm doing something every single day and night. If you're able to make it, it should be a wicked fun fan convention. And, you know, I'll be on a ton of panels, doing a book signing, and a reading (God help us all...it'll be my first...the comedy value could make the entire trip worthwhile...), so it's a total must attend!

Speaking of attending, I think I may have mentioned, oh, once or twice, that I'll be at Comic-Con (as a professional! Yes, that's still a required add-on) and in SoCal for the latter half of this month. And I'm warning you now...expect a lot more radio silence when I'm gone, 'cause I've been warned that Comic-Con itself is going to redefine the term "overwhelming" and we're combining a vacation in there, too, and the hubs gets all touchy about my spending a lot of vacation time online (instead of having fun with him or writing, which is an expected activity when we're on vacation...the man is a taskmaster! I think my editor bribes him.).

But we have weeks (2) before then! Filled with plenty of stuff to come. And, thanks to The Galaxy Express, there'll be things to do while I'm gone. But there...I've said too much too early...

So, to distract you from the not-quite-ready-for-prime-time previews, let's check out a new awesome review for "Touched by an Alien" over at Fresh Fiction! Head on over and share some Alien Collective love -- they love the pink as much as I do!

Speaking of love, as some of you know, I do love my Twitter. I love it a lot. And I'm on a mission. I want more followers! So, when I hit 200, I'm going to be giving away a signed copy of "Touched by an Alien". Ergo, ipsum factum, ig-pay atin-lay, if you're on Twitter and somehow not following me, there's more incentive to do so. And to get your friends to do so. The sooner I hit 200, the sooner a signed copy goes out, randomly chosen from among my Twitter followers.

Of course, there are other contests coming up. But they'll be, as is right and proper, for my Hook Me Up! subscribers exclusively. But wait, you're not on Hook Me Up! yet? Rectify immediately -- send an email to gini@ginikoch.com with "Hook Me Up!" in the subject line. Because when I'm back from Comic-Con the new Hook Me Up! exclusive contest will kick off. (Yes, again. What? I love them best of all, and if you want to be in that special circle, join the list!) I'm not saying an autographed pic of the cast of "Castle" will be part of the prize (because, let's face it, I think we should have a betting pool going for how far away from the cast of "Castle" I'm going to end up being), but I'm sure there will be some form of Comic-Con goodness involved, along with other cool goodies I have that y'all don't know about. Yet.

Short updates: the Accolades page is updated again -- if you've done a review of "Touched by an Alien" and don't see it listed here, let me know and we'll get that rectified immediately. Our own Ex Libris has some lovely things to say about where "Touched by an Alien" falls in her reads list.

So, head on into the weekend (other than those on the Aussie/NZ/Asia-Pacific side for whom it already IS the weekend) with anticipation. For our Canadian friends, Happy Belated Canada Day! For the Americans, have a fun, happy, and above all SAFE Independence Day celebration. For everyone else, have a good whatever wherever.

Love,
Gini
